Fertility preservation in DSD

Individuals with DSD have often an impaired fertility for a variety of reasons, including aberrant gonadal and genital development, abnormal position of the testis and early gonadal failure with sex steroid deficiency. Fertility is a main concern for parents of children with congenital conditions such as DSD and cryptorchidism and fertility preservation is considered important. The Erasmus DSD center recently initiated research on fertility preservation at prepubertal age in individuals with DSD and other congenital conditions with impaired fertility such as bilateral cryptorchidism.
